Dumpster Rental in Silver Springs

Glass-bottom boats, a first-magnitude spring and the SR 40 corridor, just east of Ocala.

Silver Springs is the springs: Silver Springs State Park, on SR 40 just east of Ocala, has “one of America’s largest springs,” a first-magnitude spring famous for its glass-bottom boats. The state park service says that in the late 1870s Phillip Morrell “fixed a piece of glass in the bottom of a rowboat and a new enterprise began,” and that in the steamboat days the Silver River and springs “became a distribution center for Central Florida.” The Florida Park Service took over the headsprings on October 1, 2013, and the whole park became Silver Springs State Park.

The Census counted 2,844 people in the Silver Springs community in 2020, and its homes are unusual: only about 8 percent are single-family houses, about a quarter are mobile homes and more than half are in small apartment buildings, most of them three or four units (small-sample estimates). So the work is unit turnovers, mobile-home cleanouts and remodels, usually in a 10 or 15-yard. Silver Springs is about 5 miles east-north-east of our yard straight out SR 40, and the Silver Springs, FL 34488 mailing area runs much farther east, out past the John Van Fleet Sports Complex about 13 miles away.

Do I need a permit in Silver Springs?

Silver Springs is not an incorporated town, so there is no town code here: Marion County and Florida rules apply. We found no Marion County rule or permit published for a container in a county road, so we keep containers off the road, SR 40 included, and set them on your driveway or lot. If you are in a homeowners association, check its rules on driveway containers before delivery day. The City of Ocala’s rule that the City alone collects all solid waste other than construction and demolition debris and recyclables applies only inside city limits, so here we take cleanouts, junk and mixed loads as well as remodeling, roofing, construction and demolition debris. And if a demolition or renovation removes asbestos-containing material above the Asbestos NESHAP thresholds, a Notice of Renovation or Demolition must go to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection at least 10 working days before work starts; Marion County projects go to its Central District office (407-897-4100).

FAQ

Silver Springs dumpster rental questions

  • Is a permit needed for a dumpster in Silver Springs?
Unincorporated Marion County: we found no County rule or permit published for a container in a county road, so it goes on your driveway or lot, off SR 40. The City of Ocala’s collection rule stops at the city limits, so cleanouts and mixed loads are welcome here.
  • How fast can you deliver in Silver Springs?
Often the same day if you call early. Silver Springs is about 5 miles east of our yard, straight out SR 40 (Silver Springs Boulevard). The wider 34488 mailing area runs out to about 15 miles east, so call early there.
  • Is Silver Springs part of Ocala?
No. Silver Springs is unincorporated Marion County, outside Ocala city limits, so the City’s collection rule does not apply: we take cleanouts, junk and mixed loads here as well as remodel and construction debris. The container goes on your driveway or lot.
  • Is Silver Springs the same as Silver Springs Shores?
No. Silver Springs Shores is a separate and much bigger community about 9 miles south-east of our yard, off Maricamp Road, with Ocala (34472) mailing addresses. We serve both; see our Silver Springs Shores page.
